Real Work Skills – Suited & Booted

Real Work Skills is a charity in Ayr. Our purpose is to enable people, especially youngsters, to get sustainable work, and take control of their lives.

We do this through individualised programmes of enhancing life skills, educational and vocational development, and gaining experience through placements, so the candidates can get and keep the job that is most fulfilling for them.

In addition, because these trainees have not had the benefit of paid work previously, they are further disadvantaged at interview by not having appropriate outfits. We will remove this barrier by giving them donated interview outfits which, alongside interview and job application techniques, ensures a level playing field with other interviewees.

To make this happen, we are looking for you to donate unwanted interview outfits that we can issue to candidates.

Please, look in your wardrobe. We know there are suits in there you no longer wear, or may never have worn. Statistically, 80% of you will be able to find something that is the wrong size, or no longer appropriate for you, or you are bored with. These outfits can provide an opportunity for someone else, and at the same time free up space in your wardrobe.
For women we are looking for business suits or co-ordinating separates. For men we are looking for business suits and tailored jackets (that can be worn with black trousers), and ties.

We are able to mend minor problems, such as buttons or hems, but not major faults such as broken zips or tears. All suits will be dry cleaned and checked before issue. If we cannot use donated clothing for any reason, unless you tell us otherwise, it will be given to a local charity shop.

Please call before making a special trip to ensure someone is there to receive your outfits, or to arrange another time outside of those given.

If you have a number of outfits to be donated, for example if you have collected from your colleagues, we can arrange to come and pick them up. Please call to make arrangements on 01292 285357.
